This checklist covers everything a professional commercial clean should include, organised by frequency. Use it to audit your current provider, set expectations with a new one, or identify what’s being missed.

Every Visit

Floors

  • Vacuum all carpeted areas including under desks and along edges

  • Mop all hard floors (tiles, timber, vinyl) with appropriate cleaner

  • Spot clean any stains or spills

Bins

  • Empty all desk and communal bins

  • Replace bin liners

  • Clean bin exterior if soiled

Bathrooms

  • Clean and disinfect all toilets (bowl, seat, lid, base, and exterior)

  • Clean and disinfect sinks and tapware

  • Clean mirrors

  • Mop floors with disinfectant

  • Restock toilet paper, hand soap, and paper towels

  • Clean and disinfect sanitary bins (where applicable)

Kitchen / Breakroom

  • Wipe and disinfect all benchtops

  • Clean and disinfect sink and tapware

  • Wipe exterior of appliances (microwave, kettle, toaster)

  • Empty and reline kitchen bin

  • Wipe down tables and chairs

  • Spot clean splashbacks

High-Touch Surfaces

  • Wipe and disinfect door handles, push plates, and light switches

  • Wipe lift buttons (if applicable)

  • Disinfect shared equipment surfaces (printers, phones, reception counters)

Reception / Entry

  • Vacuum or mop entry floor

  • Clean entry glass doors (inside)

These tasks are typically quoted and scheduled outside the regular clean:

  • Carpet steam cleaning — recommended every 3–6 months depending on traffic

  • External window cleaning — typically quarterly

  • High-pressure washing — car parks, external paths, building exterior

  • Upholstery cleaning — chairs, lounges, soft furnishings

  • Post-renovation or post-construction clean — specialist service

  • End of lease / bond clean — specialist service
